i do have a problem. we use fmod for our game and share the source-files and project and everything via svn. when i start the game in debug-mode everything works great, but when my friend starts it, there is the following error:

he has to press on okay. the message reappears. another okay and the game loads … we can play normally then and he even has sound.
we tracked it and it seems to have to do with the initialization of the event-system. so what can be wrong? by the way … the init returns FMOD_OK, what is quite strange, because there is this error.

Can you turn manifests off? Or embed them? I know we had some problems with manifests when we first moved to VS2007, but our engine guys soon had them sorted.

well … i got it!

the problem was, that we set a different working-directory in the project-properties. because of this, there was the error-message and the whole sound-stuff is a lot slower (slower loading, more cpu-usage.)

wow … i found that out by incident. could have taken years.
