New un-stable changes are tried in developement first, and every major revision, after much testing, they get moved to stable.

Our current schedule works along a 2 month pattern. So when we develop new features they are worked on internally until the next 2 month roll over day. On this day our internal version of FMOD becomes the Development release you see on the website and the current Development release becomes stable.

The development version may contain instabilities, it is released so people can try out our latest features and report on any issues. The stable release is generally the best for use in production because it has been through internal testing and two months of testing as a Development version.

We only ever add new features to the development version, bug fixes however go into all current stable versions and the development version.
