Just a question – is there any memory reduction achieved when reducing the max. virtual voices specified in System::init(), or is memory only consumed when those virtual voices are active?
Currently I have 1024 virtual voices, but only ever use at most 100, so would bringing the total to 256 be of benefit?

You would save some kb from the memory allocated by the core system but it’s nothing dramatic. Still, there’s no point in wasting memory when making games so try and set it to a number that is at least close to what you are expecting to use. I think we are using 128 virtual voices and that does the job for us. After all there is a restriction to the amount of audible voices (due to codecs and so on) so it’s always wise to try and not have to many virtual voices since it’s hard to make it all work if lets say 512 voices wants to play but only 32 are allowed to.

A virtual voice is currently using 448 bytes so you might save a few 100k.
