We’re getting a situation where sounds will stutter on the first loop after becoming none-virtual (3d world, walk towards a sound source). I’ve tried a few small stub programs, but can not replicate this, it only happens in game :(

The sounds are MP3 compressed; does this sound familiar to others? And what steps did you take to fix it?

the only reason a sound might stutter is that it is a stream. If it is a stream it has to seek and reflush and the buffersize might not be big enough if you have other streams playing at the same time.

We don’t use streaming, I’ll try and get it recorded so you can hear it. Odd that it only stutters the once, then its fine until you go out of range, and come back again.

sounds wont stutter unless there is buffer underrun somewhere. Its possible you are experiencing a coincidence and are actually throttling the cpu somehow, starving fmod’s mixer thread.

Strange how it happens only on the first loop of a sound, once it’s back in range of being heard then.
