I’ve had problems with an addressing exception when doing this under NT, even with the latest fmod.dll download:
Open and play MIDI with FSOUND_OpenFile, FSOUND_Play (sorry if my memory of the function names is remiss).
Stop the playback after a time using FSOUND_Stop and FSOUND_Close, and [i:svj4wfjc]immediately[/i:svj4wfjc] reopen the file for playback.
The intent here is to play the file in a loop, but be able to stop that loop only when the song plays to its end, as opposed to requesting looping when the file is opened and stopping it abruptly.
The MIDI in question happens to loop naturally, but I don’t know why that should matter.
The process works under Win95; the only time it has a problem is under NT.
My latest attempt at a workaround is to stop and close the file, then post a message which invokes a procedure to start it again.
BTW, I know this isn’t supported, and I tried FMUSIC functions instead, but the playback was awful; don’t know why yet. There’s a lot of monitor I/O going on at the time, and the contention may be killing it, but I think I didn’t do it right.
