I am workin gon the flash application which allow users to use 2 mp3 files, stick them together by overlaying the end of the first one over the beginning of the second one (within 10 sec length). And I need to stick them togethe on the server, probably get BPM of bothe, stick them and send back to flash.

What tools would you recommned for that? Can FMOD (3 or Ex) be used for that?

In theory you could use FMOD in a backend webservice that does the mixing for you and then use a dsp to capture the raw samples and write out an mp3 file…but I don’t think this is the most practical solution for various reasons (concurrent requests would tax your system quickly). If you’re assured MP3s, then I’d use the LAME mp3 library for decoding the selected mp3s and then reencoding them into a single file once you’ve done the mixing. I actually worked on a project where I had to do this exact thing, unfortunately it was work for hire, I cannot share the source. Performing the mixing for crossfading the samples from two tracks is actually pretty easy.

Good luck

Cirrus, thank you for your response!

May be you also know what approach would be better for us for dealing with BPM?
