Hi. I have a game which has used fmod for a while, and worked fine, but when I recently upgraded to the latest release from an earlier one (4.06.22) this broke the code on one customers machine.
His card:
Realtek AC’97 with latest driver.

Error Message:

FMOD error! (60) (Failed to init FMOD) Error initializing output device.

My init code takes all defaults:

[code:2mwm4146] FMOD_RESULT ret;
ret = FMOD::System_Create(&PFMod); // Create the main system object.
if (ret != FMOD_OK)
{
FMODError("Failed to create FMOD",ret);
return;
}

ret = PFMod->init(64, FMOD_INIT_NORMAL, 0);
if (ret != FMOD_OK)
{
    FMODError("Failed to init FMOD",ret);
    return;
}[/code:2mwm4146]

I’m assuming some bug fix or change in FMOD’s code itself must have exposed a new bug on this card. Any ideas? I did make sure to relink and ship the newer DLL, before you ask 😀
Thanks for any help,

You might have done this already, but I’d recommend checking out this thread for the proper Windows FMOD startup sequence:

This may not solve your problem, but could help identify it better (or provide a workaround)
