I noticed an odd description about HRTF angles in the FMOD_ADVANCEDSETTINGS help page:

HRTFMinAngle
[in/out] Optional. Specify 0 to ignore. For use with FMOD_INIT_SOFTWARE_HRTF. The angle (0-360) of a 3D sound from the listener’s forward vector at which the HRTF function begins to have an effect. Default = 180.0.

HRTFMaxAngle
[in/out] Optional. Specify 0 to ignore. For use with FMOD_INIT_SOFTWARE_HRTF. The angle (0-360) of a 3D sound from the listener’s forward vector at which the HRTF function begins to have maximum effect. Default = 360.0.

Shouldn’t this be 0 to 180 degrees range, with 0 and 180 as the default values?

hi james,
The behaviour is correct, but the description should really say

HRTFMinAngle
[in/out] Optional. Specify 0 to ignore. For use with FMOD_INIT_SOFTWARE_HRTF. The angle range (0-360) of a 3D sound in relation to the listener, at which the HRTF function begins to have an effect. 0 = in front of the listener. 180 = from 90 degrees to the left of the listener to 90 degrees to the right. 360 = behind the listener. Default = 180.0.

HRTFMaxAngle
[in/out] Optional. Specify 0 to ignore. For use with FMOD_INIT_SOFTWARE_HRTF. The angle range (0-360) of a 3D sound in relation to the listener, at which the HRTF function has maximum effect. 0 = front of the listener. 180 = from 90 degrees to the left of the listener to 90 degrees to the right. 360 = behind the listener. Default = 360.0.

Ah, I see… That’s a pretty strange conversion to have to make – there’s no easy way to simply read the parameters and pick correct values without looking at the documentation in detail.

I’d honestly think about converting this to simple degrees. 90 = 90 degrees, 180 = 180 degrees, with 0-180 being the range. It’s not like it would have a huge impact on most users. I’m guessing most people just leave it at the defaults.

Not a huge issue of course, but something to consider.

yes it should probably say 0 to 180 but its safer to change the docs than break people’s code.
