Hi Xman, Unfortuantly the only way to achive this with the current fmod 3.5 or less version is via the DSP engine.

I belive its possible if your samples are in mono, and using the pan but I forget how this is done, I do believe that the future coming version of fmod is suppposed to support a vu in stereo though i could be wrong.

Brett could u shed some light on the subject?

I don’t understand that logic. If the VU reading was 0.8 and I was using stereo pan. And the left channel had all the sound for the reading. Then 0.8 * 127 (stereo pan) = 101.6 Now the left channel would be 0.8 * (255 – 127) = 102.4

Having my headphones on I know that the sound is on the right channel, so but my readings are quite differently using that forumal, or am I being a complete idiot and not understanding it right. Please point out my flaw.

Thanks in advance, and btw Brett, thanks for the upcoming stereo VU.

Ahhh, ok I understand now. I was totally misunderstanding you. Applogies.

When you do implement stereo VU however and we are playing a stereo stream such as a mp3, and all sound is on the left or right we will be able to read these as seperate correct? IE, left and right?

Visual Basic also has functions with variables passed by reference.

So in Visual Basic, you would have to do :
FSOUND_GetCurrentVU(Left, Right)
