I am trying to play a start/run/stop series of events from inside Sandbox. I has a jet plane project, and the three sounds are separate events.

Is there a way to stitch multiple events to a sound node in Sandbox?

That way, I could hear the combination of the start_run_stop and know if they are working together pre build.

Glad to see you are finding the tool useful. We actually have a big GUI improvement coming for sandbox in our next major release (which is this week) so you might want to check it out.

As for your particular issue, we don’t have a feature that allows you to playback multiple things (stitched) like you describe. We hope to add scripting at some point which may help with doing what you want, but this feature is quite a way off with no set date as yet.

If you have a startup section, a running (looping) section and an ending section currently split into 3 events, could you not author an event that combines these into one using keyoff?

That’s great news Matthew! I look forward to any updates that come along, and will keep my eye open.

I am going to stitch my start_idle_stop events into one loop and check it like that for now.

My partner Chris and I spoke to Andrew and Brett at GDC San Fran 2008 about the sandbox, and using it as a teaching tool here at Full Sail university. Its so cool to see a group like FMOD follow through with tools to help at the education level.

I am not familiar with the "keyoff" function, but will look into that as well.

I just saw the update to the sandbox, and I wanted to say thanks for the support.

Is there a way to playback effects like pitch or filter and audition them from Sandbox? Also, can I do this with the functions already there, or do I need to know some kind of scripting?

I see how the "parameter" tool allows me to hear my effect, but it isnt tied to the distance setting I created in the designer.

You can create DSP filters for events in designer, and audition them in there or in sandbox. But you cannot create the filters in sandbox, there is no scripting.

The distance parameters are updating internally but the slider bar for that parameter wont move in real time in the current version. If you deselect the sound emitter and reselect it it should update the position of the slider. This should be fixed in the next release.

With the distance paramter you should be hearing that take affect based on how far away you are from the sound emitter. You shouldnt need to tweak that manually.

You may need to consider scale also, it’s currently a big difficult to get a grasp of how far emitters are away from the listener, so setting up your events to change by distance may require some tweaking until it sounds correct.

We plan to make it easier to judge distance and also specify a scale that suits your data, for instance 1 unit = 1 foot instead of 1 unit = 1 meter.
