When adding a user property in the FMOD designer, the sound designer specifies a type (int, float or text). Is there anyway to get type information from a user property using the API, or do you have to assume you know the correct type when writing your code?

check out this:

[code:32dmktmq]FMOD_RESULT Event::getPropertyInfo(
int * propertyindex,
char ** propertyname,
FMOD_EVENTPROPERTY_TYPE * type
);[/code:32dmktmq]

and

[code:32dmktmq]typedef enum {
FMOD_EVENTPROPERTY_TYPE_INT,
FMOD_EVENTPROPERTY_TYPE_FLOAT,
FMOD_EVENTPROPERTY_TYPE_STRING
} FMOD_EVENTPROPERTY_TYPE;[/code:32dmktmq]

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that’s exactly what I need. It looks like this method is only available in version 4.19 of the API. My project is using the current stable release, but we’re likely to switch to 4.19 before we ship.

We went to 4.19 to get this feature (and one other). It was a bit rough early on but 4.19.06 looks pretty good.
