Is there a way to check the version of an FEV or FSB file? I am trying to do some modding for a game and it seems that it won’t load a file of a different version, so I would just like to know if there is any way to do this.

Hm for FSB the first 4 chars of the file denote the version, it usually says
FSB2
FSB3
FSB4

I dont think there is an easy way to get the version # of the fev, we’d have to look up the file offset if you wanted to pick it out of the file manually.

For FEV, bytes 0 to 3 of the file are a magic value to identify the file format (currently FEV1). The version is written to the next 4 bytes of the file as a little-endian int (i.e. least significant byte first).

For example, if bytes 4 to 7 of the file are (hex) 00 00 37 00, this means the FEV version is 0x00370000.

Note that this doesn’t correspond to an API version – it’s only incremented when the FEV format changes.

Thank you very much for this information. After a little trial and error, I have now found the correct version that I need!
