Hi, i’m having problems with audio on Crysis. It’s extremelly choppy even during the video intros.
I want to know if there’s a way i can update the fmodex.dll and other fmod dlls.
I have an Acer Aspire E360 with AMD 64 3500+ using Vista and i’m using the last realtek high def audio drivers for Vista.
The reason i’m here and not in Crysis forums is because i belive this is an issue with FMOD and not with Crysis engine, due to the extremelly amount of forums related to choppy sound on games (not only Crysis) that use FMODEX audio.
Best regards and sorry to bother…

FMODEx v4.07.23 is an ancient version, it was released over a year ago and there have been many fixes since then. The most important fix for you is in v4.17.02 which addresses stuttering in Vista.
Unfortunately all I can suggest at the moment is to petition Crytek to update their version of FMOD to a more recent version.
the problem with that is version issues. A lot of programs will check the fmod version and if it does match a certain version the app will fail to load. Even if it does work, there could be other issues with incompatable code.
So, I dont recommend doing that.

There was an issue with choppy sound in Vista, Microsoft contacted us about it (their testing team noticed it in several games including Crysis). We have reworked our Vista audio support to address the issue and the fix has been out for quite a while now.
I just checked with our revision history and it looks like the fix has been available since the end of June (FMODEx version 4.17.02). Could you please check you have the latest updates for Crysis installed and the FMOD version is version 4.17.02 or higher (you can see the version of FMOD by doing a properties on the DLL file and looking at the details tab).
We haven’t had any reports of Vista stuttering since that version so if Crysis is still using an old version of FMOD then they will need to update to resolve the potential stutter issues.
