Hi,

I asked this question a while ago, but it was buried in a feature request, so it might have gotten overlooked. :)

I see that in FMOD designer I can set the 3D rolloff to be "custom". However, I don’t see any way to set the rolloff curve for an Event. (I.e. the Event equivalent of Channel::set3DCustomRolloff().)

So, how do I set the 3D rolloff if I set it to custom in the Designer tool?

Thanks.

Hi Adiss,
You would add a distance parameter (right click add parameter) to an event, then add anything you want, ie a volume curve that reacts to distance.

In code you could set a global rolloff callback to do this as well if you want.
ie
FMOD_System_Set3DRolloffCallback (FMOD_SYSTEM *system, FMOD_3D_ROLLOFFCALLBACK callback);

A few resources to look at:

  • See the example ‘SimulatingDistance’ included with the Designer download. This technique uses the ‘occlusion effect’ which is the existing volume and lowpass on the mixer channel – making it very efficient.
  • See the section Simulating Distance on page 124 of the Designer user manual.
