The .h file generated by the Design Tool does not have project unique category IDs.

So, if I use these values when calling EventSystem::getCategoryByIndex, how do I know which one I’m going to get?

Thanks
Greg

These values are not intended to be passed to EventSystem::getCategoryByIndex. They are category indices within each category’s parent category, and are intended to be passed to EventCategory::getCategoryByIndex.

Could this be added at some point in the (near) future? 😉

Currently, the event IDs in the .h file are highly useful for using in game scripts, to refer to events uniquely, rather than the game scripts having to pass strings to the game engine. It would be really nice to have the same thing for categories.

Thanks
Greg

You make a good point. We’re going to look into adding a getCategoryByGUID function (similar to getEventByGUID) in the near future, which should address your need.
