Hi. I am using FMOD to write an input plugin for my favorite music player. It will be used to make the player play mods (.xm, .s3m, .it, .mod, .sgt). Now when I first add the file to my playlist it works and the song plays with no errors. But then when I close the player, and reopen it (now the song is already in the playlist) and I try to play it I get an “Unknown file format” error. I have checked the file path that the player is giving to the plugin and it is no different from the first time when it worked (except the first time C: is capitalized and the second time it’s lower case c:, but I doubt that’s the problem.) So it looks like a problem on your end. Can anyone enlighten me here because I’m at a loss.

This is for Windows.

When the player initializes the plugin, fsound_init is called. When the player closes and shuts down the plugin, fsound_close is called. I have tested enough to know both are called. Yet for some reason, it won’t play the file unless I load the song into the playlist manually. I have asked the media player creator and he said nothing is different in the filename or anything in both cases. So I don’t understand why I’m getting an unknown file format error (the filepath the player gives is clearly correct and with the correct extension).

Is there something else other than the filename that could cause this error to arise?

What can cause this “Unknown file format.” error to happen besides having an unsupported extension?
