Wanted to know if anyone else was having any issues with using OpenAL as your output device when trying to use 3D audio?

-I am running Vista64 and haven’t tried it on any other systems.
-Everything seems to work fine when I don’t select OpenAL as my output device.
-Nothing fails if I select OpenAL, it just won’t play 3D audio, but it will still play 2D audio.

I put together a simple example that causes the problem [url=http://www.lorentapia.com/Test_OAL_FMOD_3D.zip:3lq31dil]here[/url:3lq31dil]

Thanks,
Loren

Firstly I would highly recommend you don’t make use of the OpenAL output mode. We have a specific output mode which is designed for Vista called WASAPI which uses our software mixer, it is this default for Vista.

That being said, I have tested OpenAL here and I can see it is not working. I will look into fixing this for our next release.

It’s also worth mentioning that in the future we will be deprecating hardware mode entirely on PC due to too many hardware related issues.
