My Partner Chris and I are both experimenting with the FMOD iphone examples. Problem is that his works and runs fine, where as all my examples go to a black background in the simulator and stay there.

I can see the logo "F" button as a widget, but as soon as I launch any of the examples (from xcode or the simulator) I see nothing but a black background.

According to the message in Xcode, it says the build succeeded.

Has anyone seen this happen before?

That’s not something that we have seen here before, it sounds like a configuration issue possibly. Are you running the latest SDK?

Also have you tried running in debug mode? Debug mode links to the logging version of FMOD and will output information to the TTY, perhaps that will give some clues.

Update,

After reloading leopard I am able to load and adjust all the xcode examples that come with the iphone api.

I started with a combined update to my current os, but that didnt work. I backed up my drive with time machine, and reinstalled the os. Then I re-migrated my files back and now everything is loading just fine.

I have no idea what the real issue was, but if anyone else comes across this blocking of certain projects, this was a fix (although time consuming).

Thanks

I am glad you resolved the problem, albeit with an extreme fix. Perhaps a reinstall of the iPhone SDK would have resolved the problem?

Well, I had tried that a few times. I wish that would have been the answer. I also tried a 10.5.6 combined update to blow out what ever was wrong in my OS, but no dice.

Short of being a serious leopard IT person, this was the only option.
