I don’t quite understand how the volume adjusting in Fmod works.

I know I can’t use FSOUND_SetVolume until a channel is initialized and a sound is played on it.

I want the user to be able to toggle the volume of certain channels in my application, but the sounds are not playing yet. (like a volume adjuster for music, sfx, etc. in games under options).

Because of this, I have to write

[code:1jnznkjr]FSOUND_PlaySound(4, sample[5]);
FSOUND_SetVolume(4, voice_volume);[/code:1jnznkjr]

where voice_volume is a value adjusted before the sound is played. Is this really the best solution?
