As I’m playing an mp3 (fmod ce on Windows Mobile 6.1) everything is going a long just fine. If I switch from my app to any other window the app comes down hard.

This maybe a noob question but is there any issue with streaming music when the hwnd passed to SetHWND isn’t the foreground window?

(this is a C# .netcf app and I’m doing custom streaming of an mp3 using SetCallbacks etc because the data stream is http and the ce dll doesn’t support that part of the api)

Any help is appreciated.

I didn’t use this function when I created a similar app for the pocket pc. I don’t think it’s required.

I did take out SetHwnd (the docs indicate that its specific to Direct Sound which I’m not using. Still have the crash though.

Was your app streaming from a url?

Yep. Was streaming audio from di.fm.

What mechanism did you use to do the streaming if I can ask?

I’m a bit new to fmod so I’m not sure I’m using the best approach. What I’m doing is managing the streaming in code using HttpWebRequest/Response and buffering that to the file system.

Since the download may not proceed at the same rate as the playback I manage the buffering manually as well as the population of the fmod play buffer via FSOUND_File_SetCallbacks.

Did you use this same approach? Since the FSOUND_STREAM_NET_* methods are not supported on ce it’s the only way I could see getting this to work.

That was over a year ago. I don’t use fmod for streaming anymore. I use the waveout api.

Those look like some great links. I’ll dig into your examples when I get a chance.
