hi guys,

i guess my question is just in the title:
i would like to know if fmod ex is currently playing a net stream oder a local file (i have the same settings for my system, channel and sound in all cases).

it’s just supposed to be a little, unnecessary feature so i can show the user if his sound is coming over the internet or from his local hard drive … :)

thanks in advance and sorry if it’s already been talked about and i was too blind to find it …

sincerely,
julian

yes, i already thought about it, but ftp is also supportet afaik and i don’t know how many other protocols.
so i would rather try finding the "://" in the string (file/url) that is being played.

i’m gonna try this today.
just wanted to be sure that there’s nothing like a special sound type or something already implemented in fmod ex.

thanks brett!

// edit:
first, the string returned by Sound::getName doesn’t contain the protocol (e.g. "http://"), so it won’t work with it.
but in my class i stored the current item that’s being played separately, so now i’m looking for "://" in the complete string and it works good and without any mistakes as far as i tested it the last couple of minutes.

so … for me the problem is solved, but i don’t know if it is really a general solution for anyone trying to determine if fmod ex is playing a net stream or local file, so if anyone has another solution, please post it! :)

sincerely,
julian
