Hello,

I seem to be having a problem getting ID3 tags out of my MP2 files. getTag works with other file formats (like MP3), but it is not working on my MP2 files, even though I’ve verified that the data is in the file and that the information can be read by other programs, like VLC.

Here’s a line that I am using in my code:

[code:20qx4pz6]result = sound->getTag("ARTIST", 0, &tag);[/code:20qx4pz6]

result is FMOD_OK, so it’s not breaking the app.

Thanks for the help!

PS: getNumTags returns FMOD_OK also, but has a value of nil.

If getNumTags reports that there are no tags, then either the file has no tags (which may not be the case as you say other apps report tags) or the file has no tags that are of a format that FMOD recognizes.

This may seem obvious but make sure you are not passing in FMOD_IGNORETAGS also.

Thanks Mathew,

If I send you a small MP2 file that I know has tags but FMOD is not recognizing them, would you be able to take a look?

Sure, just send it to support@fmod.org and we can take a look at it for you.
