Is there any documentation on Sandbox? I’ve run into an issue where I have multiple events (12 all up) and some of them are not playing when the parameters of other are high (guess this is due to too many channels playing at once).

I’ve had a look in sandbox and I get events say things like “No active channels” but I cannot find anything telling me what I should do. Also, the spheres in the 3D window are all different colours but again, I can’t find anything written down to tell me what they mean!
Cheers

Hi daniel,

There is a manual "FMOD_Sandbox.pdf" – it is in the documentation directory.

hey peter, thanks for the reply.
I am blind and didn’t see the document folder the first time 😮
I’ve had a look at it and it doesn’t say anything about the issue that I am having or how to diagnose it. Any suggestions?
Also, it state in the document that F1, F2, and F3 can be used to get extra information but pressing these buttons doesn’t seem to do anything!

I cannot see this in the manual.

I don’t really understand your problem. When you say you have 12 events do you mean you have 12 instances of one event or one instance of twelve different events? What is the relevance of the event parameter values?

It sounds like you might have issues with your event’s ‘max playbacks’ and ‘max playbacks behaviour’ properties

The F1, F2, and F3 stuff i read was on page 7 of 8 under Auditing Using Sandbox -> Misc Controls

Basically the issue I have is that we have 12 events, 4 of one kind, 4 of another and 4 of a third type trying to play at once. All three of these events has their max playbacks set to 12, 12, and 5 respectively. When I add 2 events of the same kind and set one of it parameters so that we have multiple wav files in the event playing (up to 8 per instance), the next event I go to add doesn’t play and it is stated in Sandbox “No active channels”. I want to know what is stopping this newly added event to not play and I was hoping there would be some help in the sandbox (I am hoping that the "show stats" function, F3, would be helpful).

Cheers
Daniel

It sounds like version of the manual you are using doesn’t match the version of sandbox. We have recently updated all the documentation so if you download a new version that should match.

Ok, you could be running into the limit of the maximum number of playing channels. I would advise you try to reduce the need for many instances of events containing many sound definitions playing simultaneously.

By the way, there was a fix a little while ago to the ‘active no channels’ mode, I doubt it would make much of a difference in this case but there is no harm in updating.

Let me know how you go.
