Say I have two samples in a bank, what’s the best practice for knowing which sub sound is which. Ideally we would be able to order the subsounds. We’re hopping to build many banks that have a main sound and a preview sound, ideally all preview sounds would have the same index. But the subsounds can be in any order in the bank, at least that’s been the case with other instances. Do we just iterate through the subsounds and compare names?

Thanks,

When you create a soundbank there is an option to create a C header which will have preprocessor #defines for each subsound index by name.

You select the order of the subsounds in the soundbank by using a list file.
(plain text file with source file names which are newline seperated)

This is good, thanks.

Is there more info on how to use a "list file" I couldn’t find any references to it in the FMOD Designer doc.
