When creating a FSB file using the "FMOD Sample Bank Generator" included in FMOD 3, the pan is set to -1, the special value FSOUND_STEREOPAN:

– FSOUND_STEREOPAN. This is meant for stereo samples, but will work on mono
samples as well. It makes both left and right FULL volume instead of 50/50
as middle panning does.

When I try to load the file in FMOD 4 (using 0.4.29.4), it reports the pan being -1.0, that means "Full left". Isn’t it supposed to be 0.0, "Center"?

[quote:erpryfub]
Default pan for the sound. -1.0 to +1.0. -1.0 = Full left, 0.0 = center, 1.0 = full right. Default = 0.0.

Also, if I create the file using the "FMOD Sample Bank Generator Ex" included in FMOD 4, the pan is set to 0x80, that is "Center", so it seems to confirm that FMOD 4 loads FSB3 files incorrectly.

FMOD 3 and FSBank that comes with it is obsolete, do not use the old FSBank to try and load in FMOD Ex, use the FSBankEx.
Stereopan is an antiquated concept , the programmer in this case would use Channel::setSpeakerMix to make a mono sound play full left/full right, and for stereo sounds this is the default behaviour.

I still see it as a bug, even if stereopan does no longer exist, and center pan is clearly a better value. While I know that FMOD3 is obsolete, I don’t this justifies FMOD4 not working correctly with FSB3 files.
