Hi everyone,

I have a Fedora 11 setup and I have been trying out some of the samples. I’m met with this response:

FMOD error! (62) Error initializing output device.

Now, I have found two solutions that are not ideal:

  1. Use padsp
  2. modprobe snd-pcm-oss, modprobe snd-mixer-oss

The first options results in slow and choppy audio unsuitable for any task. Even with all the tweaks, this won’t correct the issue. The latter work-around results in good quality audio, however, it conflicts with pulseaudio which stops functioning for many programs.

Is there any other solution to this issue?

For compatibility with PulseAudio and FMOD, we recommend installing the ALSA plugins. See [url:2vcura7q]http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup[/url:2vcura7q] for details on operating with ALSA applications. Also ensure FMOD is using ALSA when this is set up: System->setOutput(FMOD_OUTPUTTYPE_ALSA).
