When I use the doppler fx, it only works when the sound´s frequency modified is higher than the original. If the new frequency is lower , the sound is played at the original speed. What should I do?

For example: the listener is at {0,0,0}, stoped, and the object is at {0,0,100}, at speed {0,0,-50}, going to position of the listener, right?. The modified sound (with doppler) looks like if it was being played faster than the original fequency. But if the speed was {0,0,50}, when the object is moving away from the listener position, the sound should looks like if it wass being played slower than the original frequency. But it only works in the first example, because when the object is moving away the sound modified appears like in the first example. Can anybody gives me an example that works for both cases?
