I just downloaded the FMOD Programmer API for iPhone 4.28.07. Examples work fine on the actual iPhone device but not in the simulator, system->init always fails regardless of the version.

any idea?
thanks.

Have you tried this advice here:

If that doesn’t help can you paste the output from the TTY.

I changed the sample and bit format to many different combinations, to no avail. I am changing the Built-in Output values, I do not see the iPhoneSimulatorAudioDevice value in the Audio MIDI setup.

Here’s the console output (looks like the same as the one from your link) :
[code:cp9su192]FMOD: SystemI::init : FMOD Ex Version: 00042807
FMOD: SystemI::init : maxchannels = 32, flags = 00000020, extradriverdata = 0x0
FMOD: SystemI::close :
FMOD: SystemI::close : Stop all sounds
FMOD: SystemI::close : Remove miscllaneous DSP stuff.
FMOD: SystemI::close : done.

FMOD: OutputCoreAudio::init : Initializing...
FMOD: OutputCoreAudio::init : Forcing output format to an acceptable value: PCM16.
FMOD: OutputCoreAudio::init : Cannot initialize audio device. (err: -10851)
FMOD: OutputCoreAudio::init : Initialization Failed!
FMOD: SystemI::close :
FMOD: SystemI::close : Stop all sounds
FMOD: SystemI::close : Remove miscllaneous DSP stuff.
FMOD: SystemI::close : done.

FMOD error! (62) Error initializing output device.

Perhaps there is a problem with the install of the SDK. Can you try the Apple aurioTouch example? Perhaps it’s a config issue.

For reference I have all my devices (input and output) set to 44100Hz, 2ch 24bit. Also I have the built-in devices set as default (Apple once said some other sound cards don’t work with the simulator).

AurioTouch was not working at first, I could here the UI sounds though but I could not see or hear the oscilloscope. What’s odd is that example SpeakHere was working perfectly. That’s when I went into Audio MIDI setup to set input settings the same as my output settings. I ran AurioTouch and it worked fine! I immediately tried an fmod example and it ran perfect as well!!

For the record, my settings are 44100Hz, 2ch 24bit both for input and output on a MacBook Pro.

Thanks a lot for your help, have a good one.
