I’ve had a good hunt around and understand the AAC problems but need to support this format. I’ve downloaded a codec_aac.dll by masterofx but I get an error when trying to open an m4a file.

I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has had some success with these file types if only to make sure I’m not wasting my time!

FMOD looks almost ideal to me so it would be a shame to have to look for another solution.

Thanks

Alex

FMOD does not currently support AAC due to licensing issues, however we are currently implementing support for it in the iPhone using the native decoder. There is a possibility that once the codec is complete we could port it across to the Mac to get support working there also. This is just speculation at the moment, but I am assuming the APIs will be similar if not the same.

If you require AAC for any other platforms you would need to look into creating a custom FMOD codec.
