Hi – I want to make some music mod. Replacement of existing music. I did all what i wanted with existing stereo or mono .fsb files, but i failed with multichannel .fsb files.

[u:8ldhx4xp]What i know about these existing multichannel sounds.[/u:8ldhx4xp]
One .fsb file contains 3 channels and they are named. There is .def file with same name as .fsb – extension is different and its text file with .def extension.

Channels
tension stereo
action stereo
calm stereo
end

These channels are music – 3 audio tracks – and they are playing depending on what happens. If no action – [b:8ldhx4xp]tension[/b:8ldhx4xp] channel playing, if action – [b:8ldhx4xp]action[/b:8ldhx4xp] channel playing, after action – [b:8ldhx4xp]calm[/b:8ldhx4xp] channel playing, then tension again.

What i tried[/u:8ldhx4xp]
I tried to use FMOD Sample Bank Generator and Build modes (single or interleave FSB file). It failed. I had 3 waves with names tension, action, calm – effect was terrible.

I tried to build multichannel .wav file using Audacity 1.3 beta. It was looking good. Audacity can join 3 stereo files to one multichannel wav, also can name these channels, also can assign any of these 6 audio tracks inside exported wav (6 because 3 x 2 stereo) to the channel. Everything failed.

I also found some descriptions about using that original multichannel .fsb

[quote:8ldhx4xp]
"Music" {
"Party0" {
"Action" {
Channel = S "action" ;
FileName = S "US_tension_action_01.fsb" ;
}
"Calm" {
Channel = S "calm" ;
FileName = S "US_tension_action_01.fsb" ;
}
"Default" {
Channel = S "tension" ;
FileName = S "US_tension_action_01.fsb" ;
}
"Tension" {
Channel = S "tension" ;
FileName = S "US_tension_action_01.fsb" ;
}

My question is: Is there an other way to create multichannel .fsb file which can works in that case?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance. [/quote]

Hi rosciak, welcome to the forums.

You should be able to use FSBank for this.

You should use interleaved. What was terrible?

Usually I found two problems, when I tried to to make multiplayer channel .fsb.

One (when using FSBank) it was only one channel played. Imagine it like that.

[b:1u1rh2f5]Tension[/b:1u1rh2f5] channel is main channel – and it started to play it. But when game detecting [b:1u1rh2f5]action[/b:1u1rh2f5] or[b:1u1rh2f5] calm [/b:1u1rh2f5]period – original soundtrack still playing music (correct channels of course). But mine, created by FSB Sample Back generator using interleaved, not. In short – only one of three channels working.

Second problem which i encountered, it was when I created multichannel (6 channels because 3×2 (stereo)).wav file (by audition 1.3). With that way i heared my audio very quiet and – what is more important – mixed from all 6 channels. In short – sound is mixed, it not detecting channels.

And im still looking for any tips or other ways to create multichannel .fsb

You can use Channel::setInputChannelMix to control the volume of the each of the channels.
