Hi Folks,

Recently I’ve started working with FMod (wich is a fantastic software) and I’m reading the manual, reading the forum and etc, but now a doubt appears.
This is my first post here and I’ve read the all old posts but I’m still got nothing. Hope someone here can help me.

The problem is:

I’ve made a weapon sound, wich is Stereo and every time I’d put to play on 3D, it sounds like Mono. So I’ve read on the old post about the stereo spread (3D Speaker Spread?) wich was implemented on 2006 if I remember well but the problem is when put on 180 degree trying to make again as a stereo sound, I lost the panning sensation on 3D enviroment.

I know it looks like a stupid question and I’m sorry for that but, I’m really stucked…

Any clue?

Thx and my best wishes

Hi antonioteoli, welcome to the FMOD forums.

I’m not entirely clear on what your problem is hopefully I can shed some light on this for you.

The default behaviour for stereo sounds in 3D is they are downmixed to mono and then spacialized according to position.

You can use the 3D Pan Level property to make the sound part stereo and part spacialized. If you want your sound to be stereo when it is near the listener and spacialized when it is far away then you can control the 3D Pan Level Property with a distance parameter.

Here is an example:
