Hi!

I’d like to use FMOD for realizing a real-time audio application using a guitar as input device. Specifically I want to play a MIDI file and compare the notes with notes played on guitar.

Since I haven’t used FMOD yet, I’d like to know how I could realize this.

FMOD provides a simple method to play a MIDI file, but is there a way of determining which note or notes (of the MIDI) are currently played?

Subsequently I could take this information and compare it with the guitar signal using FFT.

Any hint is appreciated!

Check out the pitch detect sample that comes with the API. If that’s not enough, search for pitch detect in the forums. It’s a common question.

And for FMODs MIDI implementation, we only support the playback of MIDI files and expose basic information such as lyrics via the FMOD_TAG interface. We don’t provide access to note data.
