So I’ve poured over the forum, and though I’ve seen the question arise a few times, I’ve yet to find a definitive answer.

I am a budding sound designer new to FMod, and I was hoping there is a way to find a game template to create my own design for. Whether it be a game mod, or a game template in Ogre, or Java, or whatever, it would be great if there was a premade sample game where you could just add your FMod files, for practice/demo reel purposes.

I am hoping to get a little practice in (and a chance to show off my skills to potential clients/programmers). The tutorials are great help, but with no end result to work towards, it’s difficult to maintain direction. Also the idea of trying to hook up with a game project, even pro bono, without having some example of your work.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi NESavant, welcome to the forums.

There is FMOD Sandbox which is a simple 3D world for auditioning your Designer generated content. This can be good for getting a feel for the soundscape and creating a portfolio.

Also, there are a couple of games out there using FMOD that allow drop in replacement for game sounds, but i’m not sure which, so you might have to search around a bit.

Crysis is very easy to modify. They supply the FMOD projects with the retail version of the game so its easy to change things. You’ll need a much eariler version of Designer in order to build compatible banks though.
