Hello, I’m very new to FMOD and sound programming. Collectively, I’ve only spent about 5 hours or so using FMOD.

I’m having an issue when playing 3D sounds. In my game, I need to play a set of attack sound effects many times. When I have the same sound play a few times a second, it distorts and sound like it pops and crackles. Sometimes the sound will play normally and some times it won’t.

I know that this probably isn’t enough information but I don’t know what else to say. I can provide more information if needed.

I’ve messed around with it a bit more but still no solution. I made sure that no sound is playing more than once and I switched out some more sounds to see if it was just low quality effects.

All of the sounds are played on the XY plane, with Z always set to 0. I’m wondering if having too many sounds near each other can cause the snapping and poping sound that I hear. Any thoughts?

It is hard to diagnose your issue from the information you have provided. It is possible that level in the sound file are quite high and when you play multiple instances they exceed the maximum output causing distortion. Can you try running your program using the sound files that come with the FMOD examples? Can you also most the code where you call createSound and playSound?
