Hello,

I have this college course where I have to do a mp3 player using FMOD, in C++. I also have to be able to fetch samples of that mp3 at any given time T, and perform Fourier transforms on the sample.

I have been looking around for valid tutorials, and couldn’t find anything but outdated misguided tutorials. Does anyone have a website where I can find the basics ? i.e. how to stream and play a mp3 and possibly fetch the read buffer at a given time ? However, just a tutorial where I can learn how to stream a mp3 with the latest version of FMOD would be an awesome help.

Thanks in advance.

You should have the API installed and look at the ‘playstream’ example in the examples directory. This shows playing an mp3.

Also read the fmodex.chm file (if on a Mac you’ll need a chm reader, I use iChm) this gives a good introduction, tutorials and documents all the FMOD classes/functions. To get the spectrum data look up the functions System::getSpectrum() and Channel::getSpectrum(). To get the waveform data look up the functions System::getWaveData() and Channel::getWaveData().

Good luck!
