Hi. I have a wavebank that I cannot delete. I understand only empty banks can be deleted. However, this particular bank is a bit odd. All of the wav files in it come up as red, and none of them exist (must have been deleted…perhaps from outside of Designer). They cannot be played, their attributes come up as ‘0’, and it claims ‘unknown’ as far as the Sound Type. If I attempt to ‘open in an external editor’ it fails (obviously…these files do not exist) etc.

So because Designer seems to be confused, and believes this to be a non empty wave bank, I cannot delete it.

Any suggestion?

Please post how you removed the unreferenced files.

I just came across this problem, and it’s not immediately intuitive. I’m aware you can move the references to another bank, but that doesn’t solve the issue when there are no references to these in the project besides being in the bank, and then not being able to delete them from any bank.

A much nicer solution to this editor would be to be able to drag and drop events into the bank so that they are added instead of individually going through every sound in the event editor one by one and changing the bank drop down.

Being able to press Delete if they are still referenced should bring up a dialog box to delete the events/sound def, with a YES, or GOTO which would then take you to that sound def.

If there’s no other references to them, you should be able to remove them by selecting ‘Remove Unused Sound Defs and Sound Files’ from the Project menu.

You can, in fact, drag and drop sound files from one bank to another in the Banks view.

I haven’t seen it yet but it would also be really great to be able to drag and drop sound defs into multi-track events, rather than using the browser for every individual sound def. Or, at least be able to control+click multiple sound defs while browsing.

We have no plans to add the features you describe to FMOD Designer at this time. Fortunately, FMOD Studio will include a number of interface changes designed to make adding sounds to events a lot easier.
