I’ve seen this asked before, but it didn’t seem to get a direct answer. I’m using fmod for very simple sound mixing of 2D short sounds. But, the delay when playing the sound is close to 1/2 second. This makes the game largely impossible to play. Seems to work great in 95/98 and even 2000.

Are there hardware systems that are known to have longer latency? I am specifing only FSOUND_2D when loading the sounds.

You need to call FSOUND_SetBufferSize (I think that’s the name) to change the buffer under NT 4.0 to something smaller. 60 works well for me.
