several mp3 files are reported with the wrong length. I uploaded one example to your ftp server /defect_songs/ (Please delete aknowledged files from your server)
The issue is quite new. An old installation of fmodex 0.4.34.0 (april 8th 2011) doesn’t show this behaviour.

Martin

Hi Martin,
I’ve checked your files and there is an issue with the stream open call hanging on that wav. the other file returned FMOD_ERR_FORMAT as it should have (its an id3 file not an mp3).
regardling the song lengths I get exact calculations for your tracks, what versions of FMOD are you using ? 4.34.05 had a cbr length calculation fix in it which might help you.

Hi brett,

you wrote in the other thread that my problem is just a few samples. It’s actually not.
It’s a matter of seconds in the particular case it’s more than 6 seconds difference. FMOD reports 2:55 and Audacity (everyone else) reports 3:01 minutes.
This is a very different behaviour. I’ll upload the wrong file again to make sure you have the same file.

Martin

franco, your files are not reporting the wrong length, they are reporting the correct length, they are just decoding less than they should be because the decoder is descarding frames in your file as if they were bad. This is not the same issue and should not be reported in this thread.

lemart – i’ll have a look at your new file now, you didnt produce this before, the other files either had corruption or failed, but didnt report the wrong length.

Hi lemart,
Ok I found the issue with your file – it is the gigantic tag (139kb) at the start throwing it off, i’ve compensated for that as it was subtracting the tag size from the length of the file incorrectly.
You can get around that for now by using FMOD_IGNORETAGS then FMOD_MPEGSEARCH and FMOD_ACCURATETIME.

Thank you! That fixes the issue.
