Hi all!

When I try to to compile the sample-files I get this wierd linker error:

[sunegn@localhost simplest]$ make
gcc -g -O3 -o simplest Main.cpp ../../api/libfmod-3.6.so
In file included from Main.cpp:18:
../../api/inc/fmod_errors.h:32:7: warning: no newline at end of file
/tmp/cc5DZAqF.o:/home/sunegn/projects/fmod/fmodapi360linux/samples/simplest/Main.cpp:24: undefined reference to `__gxx_personality_v0′
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [all] Error 1
[sunegn@localhost simplest]$

I have absolutly no idea what’s happening, and any help will be greatly appreciated. I-m using gcc 3.2 under Mandrake 9.0

Thanx in advance

Sune

Hi !
This error occurs when you mix incompatible compilers. For example, it is possible to reproduce this when compiling with gcc-3.0 and linking with gcc-2.95. Check your gcc_* installation or just update your linker suite.

Hi there, KarLKoX!

Thank you for your quick reply.
I’ve checked my linux-installation, and I’ve only got gcc-3.2 installed, so I pressume that it’s not the problem. However, could it be a problem if libfmod-3.6.so has been compiled with a 2.9x gcc compiler and then linked against a gcc-3.2 object-file? Or perhaps this was what you meant?

I get the same linker error. Also with gcc 3.2. I assume fmod was compiled with gcc 2.9x. A gcc 3.2 version would be nice since all recent distributions ship with gcc 3.2 and not with 2.9x anymore.

I am using fmod with gcc 3.2.1 and have no problems. However the Makefiles are wrong. If you g++ for compiling and linking everything is fine.
[code:pdnic74h]g++ -g -O3 -o simple Main.cpp ../../api/libfmod-3.6.so[/code:pdnic74h]
