If mixer buffer size is set to huge value like 1000ms there is 1000ms delay between song start and hear it. Is there any way to disable this delay?

You shouldn’t need to have a buffersize that high, what it does is it buffers that ammount of data so it has to take that ammount of time to do it, you should only need about 200 ms Buffersize for it to sound good. Fmod defaults it at 50 ms which is fine if you dont have any effects or spectrum or anything enabled.

Fmod is mixing ie 200ms pieces, but why is that delay? what is it doing before start mixing and play sound?

But most media players don’t have any latency before start playing song, is it necessary?

I am making simple player, and I am testing it in narrow circumstances, like many other applications run. When mixer buffer size is big there is less noises, changing stream buffer size doesn’t change anything.

OK I get it. Thanks for fatigue answer. My questions are testy because I’m not acquaint with all this song stuff :). I will be fine with 200ms mixer buffer size :D.

It doesn’t work on my sound card, songs loaded with FSOUND_HW2D don’t even run.
