I would like to use fmod to edit sound files that might potentially be very large, such as 1+ GB wav files. Is the API designed to work with large files (i.e., is there a way to tell it not to try to allocate the whole file in memory while you work on it)? It would be nice to be able to set a buffer size and not have it try to load more than that into memory at any given time. Moving around in a file would transparently load the correct portion of the file into the buffer without the programmer needing to worry about it.

I asked this question a while back but I figured that maybe this feature had been added since I last checked.

Thanks,

You COULD load the .wav as a stream (FSOUND_Stream_OpenFile)… then it works on a buffer. Not sure how easy it would be to edit in memory that way, though…
