you are saying soundforge allows you to save files in a wav format which is actually mp3 compressed (if i got it right)
since i cant find any similar option, should i install any additional audio codec? i am using sforge v6
if so, could you please tell me which one?
oh btw one more thing:
i’m using fmod to add music to an opengl screensaver
i’m testing it on winxp
fmod gives an error during initialization (FMOD_ERR_COOPERATIVELEVEL to be precise), but beware this only happens if the “protect with password” option is checked, so i had to init fmod only after the first opengl frame has been drawn
can this be fixed in some way, so that init can be done even before creating a gl window?
i am using fmod v3.62

This happens because Windows 2K/XP blocks DirectSound while the system is locked. To elaborate, Windows enters the locked state for one of three reasons: a screen saver set to return to the login screen when ending; Windows actually being [b:2y4j2aoh]on[/b:2y4j2aoh] the login screen; or the user pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and hitting Lock Computer in 2K (possible in XP if the classic login prompt is on).
This problem can be solved by calling [b:2y4j2aoh]FSOUND_SetOutput(FSOUND_OUTPUT_WINMM);[/b:2y4j2aoh] before initializing FMOD. You won’t get DirectSound’s nifty features, but it’s the only way to guarantee that sound will work in a protected screensaver.
