When I dynamically change the frequency (from 44KHz downward, to slow down the sample) using FSOUND_SetFrequency(), the mp3 stream produces soft clicks. Anything I can do ?

Thanks!

Every 20 milliseconds… Is this too fast?

Hmmm ok then what should I be doing? I was hoping to be able to fade a stream out while also making it sound like it slowed down. I know various sound mixers can do this without skips in the audio (such as FruityLoops).

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

It’s hard to describe, and sorry I don’t know the correct terminology to use. It sounds kind of like a soft version of a machine gun :).

I was trying to record the sound output, but I have no Record What You Hear on this lame SBLive card. Any ideas how I can get this to you? Sound speaks better than words.

Thanks again.

Wait a minute, you mean to tell me there’s no “Wave” or “Mix” option in your Windows Volume Control for record source? (go to Volume Control’s Options menu, hit Properties, and select the “Recording” radiobutton to see all your recording sources)

I do have Stereo Mix! Thanks, I must have missed it… 😕

For the life of me I can’t reproduce the problem! Must have been something screwed up with Windows, as since rebooting it is super smooth. I’m using 2000 for the buffer size.

Sorry to bother… Fmod kicks ass.

At least SBLive! drivers dated in last fall had similar problem. In my computer they come quite often when I was listening MIDI-files in software synth. Every sound that was outputted was distorted somehow. Only boot solved the problem.

Though I haven’t heard this anymore when I recently upgraded to newer drivers dated this year.
