Hey.. first of all, I’d like to state that FMOD 0wns. I use it for my Quake-based engine, and the numbers of problems I had with it are near to 0. However, I also using DirectMusic alongside FMOD. I know FMOD plays .sgt’s, but it doesn’t allow you to open DMusic scripts and such.. Is there any way you can get the DirectMusic Loader&Performance classes from FMOD so you can fiddle with the DirectMusic output?

With 3.40, there is a new function called FSOUND_GetOutputHandle. This returns the handle to the appropriate output type. This is the line from revision.txt…

  • FSOUND_GetOutputHandle added to return dsound / waveout / a3d pointer.

Look it up in the FMOD help file for more information on correctly typecasting the return value to the correct type.
