I have 3D sound working well for my game on my laptop with it’s 2 speakers but when I play the game on any desktop with a 5.1 speaker setup I have problems.

The problem is that when I turn my player the sounds in the world fade from full intensity to near silent and back to full intensity after 180 degrees. The sound travels from speaker to speaker correctly however there is a dead area bewteen like 60-120 degrees and 240-320 degrees. This problem I do not have at all on my laptop and I’ve tested and found this problem on two 5.1 PC setups. I’m almost certain my set orienation is correct. Is there some hardware issues I have to contend with? Do I have to query for a correct sound driver to get 5.1 speaker setups working correctly?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I’m not sure:

For me, if I want to use 3D sound, I have to set my speakers to Quad (on the control speaker). The 5.1 is only for movies and SOME game (if it exists).

I have Altec Lansing ADA885 and for 3D sound I put it on Quad and for movies or other stuff that I’m sure it’s 5.1, I put it to 5.1.

Hope you understand and will help you.
