By running Digidesign’s Digi001 professional sound card on my system I am able to play music on XP via Digidesign drivers, ASIO drivers, or a Windows Wave driver (provided by Digi). However, I am unable to run both the ASIO and the Wave drivers simultaneously and must therefore choose one. I’ve chosen ASIO because it allows many other music application on my pc to access the Digi.

Now I’m looking for a standard media player that supports ASIO as a default output, which FMOD apparently does. However, when I try running the FMOD player I get the following error, presumably because I have no windows device configured: “Error initializing output device.”

The application quits before I can make ASIO output changes.

I tried Xmedia’s player and when the error pops up the app continues, unlike FMOD, but has no ASIO preference, also unlike FMOD. So I appear to be “Stuck in a moment.” -Bono

Does anyone know another player or should I make one myself? (Yikes!)

Peace,

How about you do this:

FSOUND_SetOutput(FSOUND_OUTPUT_ASIO);
FSOUND_Init(44100,32,0);
