I checked the forum for ASIO supporting CD playback but I couldn’t
find anything. Does the ASIO drivers support CD playback in FMOD?

I can’t seem to get the CDs to work. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong.

Thanks

Why do you want to play CD through ASIO ?? Asio is an advanced API for low latency not for playing a CD wich doesn’t use the same system. Anyway, you can use the Akrip library to get chunk data from the CD and pass it in a DSP callback buffer to Fmod.

If you only have an ASIO driver and FMOD won’t Initialize any other way,
how else do you listen to CD’s though FMOD?

No, you can’t only have ASIO driver, you have at least the WinMM driver and in 90 % of the time, DSound driver too. Btw, i think fmod play CD through windows (windows or something else) and not by low level api (aspi for example).

DSound doesn’t work. We’ll try WinMM.
Does FMOD’s ASIO driver have DSP Effects? If it does
then I guess we’ll lose DSP processing. 😥

Oh, well, Thanks

I know you can’t have DSP with CD audio, yet :) . Does
ASIO support DSP FX? If I can’t use the CD player with
ASIO, then we would have to use WINMM, right? If so
then we will lose DSP.(if it supports it).

Thanks

EDIT: What I could do is Close FMOD and re-intialize w/ Winmm to
play CD’s, then close and re-initialize w/ ASIO to play MP3s.

DSound doesn’t work at all, FMOD won’t initialize.
ASIO works, but only plays files, not CDs. The CDs
play though, (the light blinks and the drives spin)
but no sound comes out of the speakers. I didn’t know
wether or not you can have CDs go through ASIO or not.

OK, well, thanks anyway.
I’ll play around with it some more.
