Greetings!

I have a possible bug? about MOD files playing with FMOD.
Actually I am wondering if this is an fmod bug or something my program is doing.

It seems that whenever I play these two particular files with fmod [see below], the sound comes out highly static and very high/low pitched beyond listening to. When I play these two files using winamp, they sound as they should.

I do not have problems playing MOD files in general, it just seems like I come across a mod file every once in a while that
FMOD seems to choke on.

I am hoping someone can take a look at these two and tell me if you spot a pattern or if they are causing you problems as well…

My code is pretty basic:
m_pSample = FMUSIC_LoadSong( (LPCTSTR)strFile );

Followed by a:
FMUSIC_PlaySong( (FMUSIC_MODULE*)m_pSample );

And that is pretty much it!

Files:
ftp://ftp.gamehouse.com/FMOD-Bad1.mod
ftp://ftp.gamehouse.com/FMOD-Bad2.mod
ftp://ftp.gamehouse.com/FMOD-Good1.mod

Note:
All three files were exported by the same editor. One works and the other two are borked….

Update:

It seems that the example program in fmod is also choking on these files so Brett will have to check this out.

I assume it is an unhandled option or effect or something along those lines…

Update again,

it turned out to be a command without a parameter. We looked at the file under a ‘microscope’ and saw the mod file used a Setspeed command without specifying the speed.

After resaving it, we got the bad1 to play properlly.

You still might want to check this out just to handle this case as arbitrary files on the net won’t be ‘perfect’ and winamp handles it ๐Ÿ˜‰

I won’t argue with that :)

I knew it was the file itself from the start (seeing as out of 20 some files, 2 didn’t work). That and the fact that we ‘fixed’ the file to a working version ๐Ÿ˜† I just wasn’t sure what it was about the file in particular especially since winamp played it fine.

I will have to do some research on this mod editor, rather, alternative ones now :)

I still wanted to mention the bad file in case there was a case that wasn’t handled.

Thanks for the digging Brett, truly an icon!
