I’ve been using FSOUND_Sample_Load with the FSOUND_LOADMEMORY flag to load samples, which is working fine for the most part, but it fails to load AIFF files (FMOD_ERR_FILE_BAD error). So, I tried re-saving the AIFF files as WAV on my Mac (OS X 10.2.6 – via an assortment sample editors and via Quicktime) The resulting WAV files load successfully, but the sample playback is just static/white noise. I then tried re-saving them as WAV with CoolEdit on Win98, and they worked… (NOTE: I tried loading/playing the samples on both Mac OS X & Windows 98 – same results – only the WAVs saved with CoolEdit worked properly).
All the various incarnations of these samples including the original AIFF files load just fine when passing a file path to FSOUND_Sample_Load. The problem only pops up when loading from memory. Unfortunately that’s the path I need to use since the sound data is stored in archives, that may or may not be compressed.

Another related problem:
MOD music (IT & S3M) saved under Mac OS X that contain WAV samples have the same static/noise playback issues, regardless if they’re loaded from memory or disk.
I can provide files that exhibit this behaviour if it will help track down the problem.
