Does HTTP streaming work on PocketPC 2002? I can’t seem to get the following code to work… The file I’m trying to play below is located on a small webserver on our intranet. It streams perfectly when accessed using the netstream sample provided for the windows version, but I can’t seem to make it work under wince for love nor money. Init and Close are handled in separate functions.

stream = FSOUND_Stream_Open(“http://192.168.125.95/6.mp3”, FSOUND_NORMAL, 0, 0);

returns error code 9 (which I’m assuming is FMOD_ERR_FILE_NOTFOUND)

one more thing, running a packet sniffer on the webserver (which incidentally is another pocket pc running VxWeb) shows absolutely no traffic on the machine when I make arequest from the pocketpc, and obviously enough plenty of packets when i stream from the desktop (to which it is connected via WLAN not activesync/USB)

Any suggestions?

[code:2pb7bpl6]CString err;
int channel = -1, openstate;

FSOUND_Stream_SetBufferSize(100);

stream = FSOUND_Stream_Open("http://192.168.125.95/6.mp3", FSOUND_NORMAL, 0, 0);

if (stream == NULL)
{
    err.Format(_T("open failed: %d"), FSOUND_GetError());
    MessageBox(err);
    return;
}

    if (channel < 0)
    {
        channel = FSOUND_Stream_PlayEx(FSOUND_FREE, stream, NULL, TRUE);
        FSOUND_SetPaused(channel, FALSE);
    }

    openstate = FSOUND_Stream_GetOpenState(stream);

    if ((openstate == -1) || (openstate == -3))
    {
        err.Format(_T("failed to open stream"));
        MessageBox(err);
    }[/code:2pb7bpl6]

I was afraid of that, the Revision.txt file supplied with the 3.7 API for CE misled me to hope otherwise

  • ALL – Shoutcast / Icecast / HTTP streaming support added! (mp3/ogg vorbis only).[/quote:mtplefj3]

Is this likely to be added? If so, any idea on the timeframe?

thanks again

Does this mean that you are not able to play a mp3 from a regular http stream using fmodce.dll?

If not, can the fmod.dll be used for this purpose on a pocketpc 2003 under .NET?
